A Rather Long Walk
It has been one week since Lucas was branded.
He was ...restless. Very restless. He had had a terrible time all week with his temper, got a suspension from school and everything. He's working down in his lab. he didn't even say hi to anyone coming home that day, and just holed himself away silently.
He finally comes back up the stairs.
“...I'm going for a quick walk outside.” He says, heading for the door.
He's...not sure why he is.
He just needs to get outside.
Libs makes a face.
She’d... really rather him not; he's been so touchy lately.
Hey, maybe he need a nice walk outside, not all cooped up in the house or school all the time.
"Uh, yeah, alright. Be back soon?"
He stops at the door and nods a bit. " yup. " He sighs.
"I'm...sorry about snapping at you earlier mom. Love you..."
He doesn't break out the L word often.
She smiles a bit.
"Man, you think I care...? You know it’s fine... Just, be back in time for dinner, kay? Making all your favorite things because I know you've been down." She grins.
"I'm putting a lot of work into this supper, don't you go running off!"
Lucas smiles a bit. "…Thanks mom. Be back soon."
He goes out the door.
Left. Forest. Go to forest.
He follows this strange urging and walks towards the forest.
Julian is waiting. Lucas always comes when he's waiting.
Part of him wonders what it's like to be a Beta. The other part of him says he'd hate it.
Can you imagine?
Everything you do because of command.
Lucas walks into a clearing.
He stops. He looks around.
…What is he looking for....?
Julian peers down at him.
"You got suspended today."
Lucas looks up at him, slightly crouching down even lower out of subconscious respect.
"Yes. I lost my temper and beat someone badly." he says flatly.
He wasn't...too proud of it. But he had been a jerk...
Julian nods a bit.
"What made you lose your temper?"
"He wouldn't stop trying to break into my locker for a prank. I caught him, told him to stop; he said to "loosen up". So I loosened him up a bit instead, got carried away though...” hospitalization carried away....
Julian's ear twitches.
"Such a silly thing to get worked up over... I could only imagine if he'd done something WORTH getting mad at."
Lucas frowns and sighs. "Yes...that's what I'm afraid of. I'm usually much more controlled...but I just...lost it on him." He looks down, looking worried and very tense.
Julian looks down at him.
"You should probably take care of all that built up tension of yours. Wouldn't want to accidentally release it on someone you care about. What if you got in a spat with Angel? Or what if your mother tried to tell you to do something? No, that wouldn't end well at all."
Lucas sighs and looks up at him. "That would be terrible...but what can I do, Father?"
Julian drums his fingers on the thick branch.
"You've built up a tolerance to stealing, burning, beating..."
He raises an eyebrow.
"There's only one thing left TO do."
Lucas cringes. "...Killing. I...” he shakes his head. "...I don't think I c-CAN do that..." he says quietly, finding himself feeling even more strangely conflicted, lowering himself down a bit more.
"Oh you can," Julian says, leaning forward, "you can and you will. You just have to figure out whether you want to be in control of it or not."
Lucas looks up at him, looking broken.
"...if I don't...Mom and Sis could be hurt badly or killed by m-me..."
"So you've got to make the decision. No more putting it off I'm afraid."
He lays one arm over the other.
"Where do you want to be when you go?"
"Anywhere, as long as Mom and Sis are safe from me." Lucas says before he can stop himself from speaking. His eyes flash. "I don't care, anywhere, as long as they are not there..." He sighs. "...It's the lesser evil to kill a stranger than a loved one...but...I.I need help." his voice cracks a bit at the end.
Kill someone. Killing. He'd never killed anyone...not on purpose, not murdering...but...he just couldn't let you or angel be hurt!
Julian gives an understanding smile.
"Very well then."
He jumps down from the tree branch, boots making a heavy thud.
"Come with me. I'll help you."
Lucas walks over to him. "Yes Father." and follows him.
He's really, truly scared.
He's going to kill someone.
He's hated killing, murdering, that's where he'd been able to draw the line. Direct killing.
Now where would it be drawn...
Julian reaches out a hand and lays it on Lucas's head for comfort.
"Just one. Just one person will do it. Only one each time, you can get by with that."
Lucas instinctively walks all the more closer to Julian, nearly touching him. He loves the feeling of the hand on his head and it is evident in his body language.
“...good. That is good to hear..."
They keep walking until they reach the edge of a town.
It's starting to get dark out.
Supper would have started fifteen minutes ago.
Julian pats Lucas.
"Wait here. I'll bring someone back."
Lucas nods a bit. "All r-right. "
Julian nods and wanders into the brush, sneaking into town.
Five minutes go by.
Twenty minutes have gone by by the time Julian starts making his way back, carrying someone over his shoulder.
Lucas looks up at him and the person on his shoulder, blank faced.
Just be cold. Be cold.
Don't think about it. Just do it. It'll keep mom and sis safe.
Julian sets the person down in front of him.
Clearly a kid, can't be any older than Lucas.
"Keep the bag on the head," He says, pointing to the shaking child.
"Depersonalizes it. You feel less bad, it's easier when you don't have to look them in the eye."
Lucas nods and gulps a bit.
It's a kid.
No. Don't think. Do it. Just do it.
He bends down at what would be eye level with the child.
If it was their family they would understand.
He takes one hand and puts it on top of the head, and the other right under the chin.
He closes his eyes.
The body drops to the ground, motionless. He stares down at it.
They'd have done it too...
"There... That wasn't so hard was it? Do you feel better?"
Lucas blinks and looks down at his hands. "...I...don't know yet..."
He wasn't sure how to feel.
He didn't feel awful though...
Julian crouches down next to the body.
"You have to think about it. Think about what you did." He nudges the body a bit.
"Think about the idea that you have the power to take something a big, and important, as another life, and all it took was your own two hands."
Lucas thinks for a long moment and smiles a little.
His dark pink eyes turn brighter pink.
"...Yeah...that's...true.." He grins. " Ha...ha..."
He could take it. Just take it. He was strong. His mere HANDS could take away a life or leave it...
He was powerful.
His eyes widen a bit.
HE WAS POWERFUL.
He smiles widely, cruelly. He was POWERFUL. He could take whatever he wanted!!!!
Julian grins, motioning Lucas over by him.
"It's a good feeling. Isn't it?"
Lucas gives a jagged grin and crouches next to his father. "Yes~"
"Good. Keep that feeling. Keep it and hold it high, because when you remember than feeling it won't matter WHO you kill, it will always come naturally."
He reaches out and lays a hand on the bag.
"Do you hold that feeling high my son?"
Lucas smiles and balls his hand into a fist for emphasis. "Very tightly~"
he'd never felt so alive!!
"Very high, my father!"
Julian pulls off the bag.
Lucas's grin is off of his face.
He pales and stares.
He reaches out a shaky hand and moves the dead-water hair from the face.
"…G-gra-gra..Grace..no...No...not...Grace" He reaches a hand out and pulls her up.
He shakes violently, eyes wide, chest pounding in pain and clutched.
"...No...please glob no...no! Father! It was Grace!!!" He sobs, holding her dead body closely. " It was Grace! She's...she's dead!"
"I killed her!! I...I love her! I can't...this can't be happening!!!" He sobs loudly, chest clutched tightly. " ..My Grace...."
Julian reached out, laying his hands on Lucas's shoulders.
"Now, I know it hurts. I knew it would hurt you, but it's for your own good. You need to know what it's like; you need it out of your system now. What did I tell you? Not a moment a go?"
" No...no matter who it was...oh glob...I LIKED it..." He shakes his head and holds her tightly, shaking. "Grace...Grace..."
Julian strokes Lucas's head in a calming manner.
"You needed to know what it would feel like if you killed someone you cared about. Knowing this will help prevent it from happening again." He says. "Just hold tight that feeling. Hold it high."
"It hurts father...it hurts so much..." He says as he continues to hold on to her. "It hurts...why...if anyone didn't deserve to die, it was her...it was her...if anyone was good, it's her..."
Julian smiles gently.
"Ah, indeed. She would have suffered in this world." He says.
Lucas blinks and sniffs a bit.
"...at least then...she... she won't have to... to go through that... to feel any pain ever again..." He lays her back down on the ground.
His Pupils have disappeared, and he is still shaking and trembling.
His Killing instinct his growing stronger and stronger....
"It would have been a never ending cycle, Lucas."
"Just because we kill doesn't make us all bad."
"...We...free people from this world."
His eyes flash brighter and brighter, and his claws are digging into the ground.
Julian smiles more.
"And just because we enjoy our work, does that make us bad? No..."
He stands up.
"There are a lot of people in this world, son. A lot of people who need freed… And punished."
Lucas's breathing becomes heavier and heavier as his iris's expand.
He looks up at his Father, still crouched down.
"...It's our job."
A slow jagged grin etches across his face as his eyes slowly envelope in pink.
He eyes the nearby town with a hungry, bloodthirsty and nearly starved look.
"...Shall I get to work?" He says darkly.
"Oh. Please do."
Lucas lets out loud, inhuman, deafening roar as he runs on all fours at the town.
He enters the town and starts to set it ablaze. People running out to stop him.
First ones to be freed.
How lucky for them~
Angel had gone upstairs to bed.
Libs is sitting at the table with an untouched plate of food in front of me, and one across from her.
She didn't eat yet.
Lucas had been so grumpy lately, she’s sure he'd like the company when he got back.
He was running late.
He'd be extra hungry then.
She blinks, staring out the window.
She could see the orange glow in the distance; it had started a few minutes ago.
Lucas had gone that way.
She saw him go that way.
Maybe She would ask him what happened.
When he came back.
Angel can sense it.
She sits up straight in bed, breathing hard, eyes glowing.
She runs downstairs and looks out the window.
"MOM!!!" She shouts loudly. Libs looks up.
"...I can sense the bloodshed..." She shudders and backs away from the window.
Libs peers out the window.
She knew it was a bad idea,
She whips around and run to the front door, grabbing my coat, throwing it on.
She turns and points at Angel.
The last thing she needed was for Angel to get caught up in it too.
As she approaches, she can hear familiar, haunting growling, roaring, and maniacal laugher...and the screams of...victims...
Libs’ hand twitches to grab her hammer but she refuses.
There literally is no telling how much damage that would do.
"Lucas!" She calls, her voice coming out a little more desperate than she would have wanted.
A figure on all fours, silhouetted, slowly starts to prowl around her.
Its bright eyes glowing, it smiles widely, newly sharpened teeth showing.
It Jumps out and lands in front of her.
It's Lucas. Blood covered.
Eyes completely pink. He giggles as he crouches down, staring up at her.
He's going to pounce.
Julian sits up in the branch he was relaxing in.
Now he would have to stop him.
Not... just yet he supposed...
Best to be ready though.
He leaps out of the tree and makes his way quietly over to the area, careful not to attract Lucas's attention.
Libs holds her hands up defensively, knees bent.
"L-Lucas. Lucas... y-you need to calm yourself..."
" HEEEHAAAHAAAAHAEEEE!!!!!" He laughs.
He Lunges at Libs with exposed claws, putting a deep cut in her chest. He has her down.
Inches from your face, he stares into your eyes, giggling.
"LUCAS!" horrified she tries to kick him off.
He flails back a little bit.
He jumps up on to his two legs and growls at you.
WHO WOULD DARE TO KICK HIM
He grabs you by the collar and holds you up in the air
Julian remains hidden behind one of the buildings, unsure of whether or not to interfere.
He DID need to make a point after all...
Libs puts her feet on his chest trying to pry herself away.
He brings a claw back.
Inches from her face
His eyes flicker.
He drops her.
Both hands go to his chest.
"MOM!? No. NO! MOM. MOM!!”
He scream loudly in pain, falling to his knees.
"SOMEBODY MAKE IT STOOOP!!!!" He clutches on to his chest.
Libs struggles to sit up, reaching her arm out.
Why did humans have to be so friking fragile!?
One of these days she’s just going to learn to live without blood so she never has this problem again!
Julian walks out from behind the building, shaking his head.
"Oh dear. This is just what I was trying to prevent."
Lucas looks up at his father. He shakily gets up, gripping his chest .
"Please...my father..." he says as he approaches him. He falls to his knees before him.
" ...The pain..."
Julian stands in front of him, towering over him.
"I'm sorry. I tried to tell you."
Lucas stares up at him for a long moment. His eyes flash pink.
He slowly, but purposefully lowers his head and arms to the ground.
Julian grins slowly, crouching down next to Lucas, petting his head.
"Don't feel bad. You did good. You did very good." He says gently.
Lucas looks up at him, teary eyed. " Th-thank you..." he clutches his chest tighter and groans. "I..I... Don't want to feel bad. How...how do I stop?!"
He takes in a sharp breath.
"How do I make the pain go away…" his voice breaks. Pain. He can't...remember much else...just pain and sadness. Alpha will help him make it go away...
"Oh, my boy, there's only one way to make it go away." He says.
"You KNOW what to do child."
He Leans down, kind smile stretching into a jagged grin.
Lucas bows his head down and closes his eyes.
His head snaps up and he lets go of his chest, pain roling off of him, face stretching into a jagged grin.
He laughs a little.
" I let it take me, father!"
Libs is screaming and protesting, but none of it leaves her head. She couldn't make a sound, all she could to was lay there and taste blood. She struggles to get Lucas's attention, staring intently, instead her eyes meet Julian's.
His grin widens and he lays his hands on Lucas's shoulder, pulling him into a possessive hug.
"Oh, mein son you have done SO well." He says, stroking his head.
"You've given in to your nature. Free from pain, free to do as you please, to burn and kill, to make the world suffer for the pain is causes, you are free to come with me, to be MEIN son."
His eyes don't break contact with Libs's once.
Lucas grins and hugs his Father back, wrapping his arms, caked with dried blood, around him. “Your son..." He purrs. He grins and laughs quietly at first.
It soon crescendos into a maniacal, wicked laugh.
"We ...we...will burn the world, make it suffer and bleed and scream, together, my father!"
Libs grunts a bit, struggling to get up on shaky limbs.
She will NOT
Lucas's ear twitches and he looks back at her for a moment, blank faced, just staring with hollow, bright pink eyes.
It's like looking at a Stranger.
He turns back to his Father and grins widely, leaning up against him, nearly purring.
She's already lost him.
Even if she got him back from Julian
He'd just come back, Lucas would only keep running off, it would be an endless cycle of keeping Lucas locked up and kept away from everyone.
The drive is gone now and she just flops back on the ground where she began.
Julian grins and cackles.
Lucas stares up at him, an expression of pure adoration on his blood stained face, half smiling. He nuzzles up against him slightly and sighs happily.
Julian grins, the fire from the town casting light on his face, jagged teeth gleaming, eyes shining.
"You are mine. Mine and no one else's. You do what I say. Anything I say with no hesitation..."
" Yes my Father." Lucas replies, nearly purring with happiness. " Anything. Always yours."
Julian grins widely.
"And you care about no one like you care about me..."
Lucas smiles and nuzzles against him more.
" No one, Just you. You matter the most. You are the most important thing to me."
Julian grins with a dark chuckle.
"Indeed." He says, laying a hand on Lucas's shoulder.
"You're such a good son." He says with a wicked grin.
Heh, he had such a good son.
His listened to his commands so well...
"Come. Take off that old ruined lab coat. I have a present for you."
Lucas immediately takes off the labcoat, a half-ripped tank top that barely covered him all that was left on his chest, his blue Brandmark glowing brightly in the darkness of the night.
He grins up at his Father.
"A present, my father? " He says with excitement.
What a good father he has, to treat him so kindly....
Julian smirks, digging into his vest.
He pulls out a black spiked strip of leather and wiggles it in his fingers just a bit.
"A collared tracking device..." He says in a little singsong voice. "I will ALWAYS know where you are..."
Lucas smiles widely. " I love it Father, Thank you."
His father cares for him so much.
What a great Father.
The best father.
Julian grins, holding it out.
Lucas walks up to him and tilts his head back a bit to make putting it on easier. He smiles, tail twitching happily.
Julian latches the collar in place.
No one can take it off but him.
He made it that way, only HE can take it off.
He chuckles darkly looking up to where Libs lay.
Nothing can be done now.
Lucas grins and puts his hands up on it, touching it happily.
Now he will always have something of his Father with him. How wonderful~
Julian smirks. He lays a caring hand on Lucas’s shoulder, claws burning away the sleeve.
He leans down, carefully biting down on the brand mark he had given Lucas in the first place.
He could break the skin; he could hurt him if he wanted to.
But he would not.
Lucas grins and literally shudders with pure delight at this show of Approval, closing his eyes in happiness. Julian increases the force behind the bite.
He would not hurt his Beta.
And now his Beta would know
That he was in control.
He was ALWAYS in control
But that he was kind and he would protect his Beta.
He was a good Alpha.
Good and in control.
Lucas whimpers in happiness, like a sound a happy puppy dog makes.
Father controlled him, and that, was such a comforting, warming thought.
Julian carefully and slowly releases his grip.
He chuckles and grins.
"Mein son, tonight we have much to do! Tonight we celebrate!"
